Bosch Dryer — Lint Accumulation Fire Prevention

Lint accumulation in dryer exhaust systems is the leading cause of dryer fires in the United States. This safety notice applies to all Bosch vented dryers and provides guidance on preventing lint-related fire hazards.

Affected Models

All Bosch vented dryers. Condensation and heat pump dryers have a different system but also require lint maintenance.

Critical Maintenance

  • Clean the lint filter before EVERY load — this is the most important dryer safety practice
  • Clean the lint filter housing with a vacuum every month
  • Inspect and clean the full exhaust duct at least once a year
  • Check the exterior vent flap for lint blockage monthly
  • Replace flexible foil duct with rigid or semi-rigid metal duct

Warning Signs

  • Clothes taking longer than normal to dry
  • Dryer exterior is unusually hot during operation
  • Burning smell during operation (error code E01)
  • Exhaust vent flap barely opens when dryer runs (weak airflow)

Urgency Level

High — dryer lint fires are preventable. Implement all maintenance steps immediately. If you notice burning smell or error code E01, stop using the dryer until the lint path is completely cleared.
