Bosch built-in coffee machines require regular descaling to maintain safe and proper operation. Severe limescale buildup can reduce water flow, cause overheating, and ultimately damage the thermoblock heating system.
Affected Models
All Bosch built-in automatic coffee machines — 800 Series and Benchmark models.
Recommended Descaling Schedule
- Hard water areas (above 150 ppm): every 2 months
- Moderate water (75-150 ppm): every 3 months
- Soft water (below 75 ppm): every 4-6 months
- Always descale when the CALC indicator appears
Important Safety Notes
- Use only Bosch-approved descaling tablets or citric acid-based solutions
- Never use vinegar — it can damage internal seals and leave residual taste
- Do not interrupt the descaling cycle once started
- Rinse the system thoroughly after descaling (run 2-3 water-only cycles)
- Remove the water filter before descaling, then replace after
Urgency Level
Routine maintenance — follow the schedule above. If the CALC indicator has been ignored for months, descale immediately to prevent thermoblock damage.
