BSH Home Appliances Corporation, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), recalled certain Bosch, Thermador, and Gaggenau dishwashers because the power cord can overheat, posing a fire hazard.
Affected Models
This recall involves Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, and Kenmore Elite brand dishwashers manufactured between January 2008 and December 2013. Models include various configurations sold in stainless steel, black, white, and custom panel finishes.
Hazard
The power cord connection at the dishwasher junction box can overheat during normal use, posing a fire risk. BSH received 10 reports of the electrical cord overheating, including 5 reports of fire resulting in property damage. No injuries were reported.
Units Affected
Approximately 149,000 units in the United States (plus approximately 23,000 in Canada).
What to Do
- Stop using the recalled dishwasher immediately
- Locate the model and serial number inside the door or on the side panel
- Contact BSH at 888-965-5813 (8 AM–8 PM ET, 7 days/week)
- A technician will inspect and replace the power cord junction box at no cost — repair takes under one hour
