BSH Home Appliances Corporation expanded its 2015 dishwasher recall to include an additional 469,000 units, bringing the total to approximately 663,000 dishwashers in the United States and Canada. The expanded recall covers Bosch, Thermador, Gaggenau, and Jenn-Air brand dishwashers manufactured through January 2017.
Affected Brands and Models
- Bosch — various 300, 500, 800 Series dishwashers
- Thermador — Star Sapphire and Emerald series
- Gaggenau — 200 and 400 series
- Jenn-Air — select dishwasher models
Affected models were manufactured from January 2008 through January 2017 and sold at appliance retailers, department stores, authorized builder distributors, and home improvement stores nationwide for between $850 and $2,600.
Hazard
The power cord connection can overheat and catch fire during normal dishwasher operation. In addition to the incidents from the 2015 recall, BSH received 5 new reports of power cords overheating and causing fires resulting in property damage. No injuries have been reported.
Units Affected
Approximately 663,000 total units in the United States and Canada (408,000 new units plus 149,000 from the original 2015 recall, plus approximately 61,000 in Canada).
