Bosch induction and electric cooktops feature a ceramic glass surface that requires proper care to prevent cracks, scratches, and thermal stress damage. This notice outlines best practices for maintaining the glass surface.
Affected Models
All Bosch induction cooktops (NIT, NIT8,?”benchmark” series) and electric cooktops with glass surfaces.
Prevention Guidelines
- Never place cold cookware on a hot zone — thermal shock can crack the glass
- Do not slide heavy cast iron cookware across the surface — lift and place
- Clean sugar spills immediately while the surface is still warm — caramelized sugar bonds to glass and can cause pitting
- Use only flat-bottomed cookware that matches the zone size
- Do not use the cooktop surface as a cutting board or work surface
Signs of Glass Stress
Hairline cracks, discoloration around zones, or a change in heating behavior on specific zones. If you notice any cracks, stop using the affected zone and schedule an inspection.
Urgency Level
Routine care advisory. Stop using any cracked surface immediately — cracked glass is a shock hazard.
